Jackson State’s Sonic Boom
The movie, Drumline, made silver screen stars of the showstopping bands at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Long known for their entertaining halftime performances, the movie popularized them beyond the collegiate community. Each year many of the bands participate in a “Battle of the Bands” showcase. TheVillage watched from the band room and the sidelines as Jackson State University’s “Sonic Boom” prepared for the annual showdown.
