Extra Innings: Preserving the History of The Negro Leagues
Almost a century ago today a group of African American businessmen gathered in Kansas City to form a baseball league. A Chicagoan named Rube Foster led the group. The men who played in the League were heroes in that era of segregation. TheVillageCelebration takes you to the Negro Leagues Museum in Kansas City for a tour that combines the recollections of a former player and the efforts of a young baseball enthusiast to preserve the legacy of the men who truly created a league of their own.
