The Nation’s Top Doctor is Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General
The White House updates on the coronavirus often include the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, appointed to the job in 2017 by President Donald Trump.
“Do your part to slow the spread of COVID10,” Adams tweeted and included the link to a White House page with more information.
Adams served as the Indiana Health Commissioner before moving to Washington for the Surgeon General post. He is an anesthesiologist who graduated from Indiana University Medical School.
In 2018 Adams rolled out a campaign promoting flu vaccinations to help prevent deaths after the 2017 flu season, the deadliest in. At the start of this year’s coronavirus pandemic and amidst mounting criticism of a shortage of test kits, Adams suggested there were enough tests for anyone who wanted one. However, the Trump Administration has been blamed for its slow response to the coronavirus, in large part, because of the lack of testing.
On Sunday, the Surgeon General called on Americans to “love and support” one another during the outbreak.
A frustrated American responded:
Adams’ decisions and those of his boss are being followed closely as the pandemic unfolds. The Trump administration plans to updates plans daily and reassess mandates as necessary, but clearly, Adams is facing one of the most critical healthcare challenges in recent memory.
