How Did a Protestor Make It On Stage to Harass Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris

Presidential hopeful Senator Kamala Harris is at the center of a renewed discussion about the safety of political candidates after an animal rights protester walked onstage and grabbed the microphone from the lawmaker’s hand during a political forum in San Francisco. The incident appeared to stun the California lawmaker, but Harris remained calm as moderator Karine Jean-Pierre stood to her feet and attempted to prevent the man from reaching Harris.

Political consultant, Mondale Robinson, sees more than an outraged protestor at play.

Robinson explains, “The white man who walked on stage and took the microphone out of Senator Harris’s hand simply acted out what this country has been screaming for nearly 500 years, asking ‘What N—–or woman has the audacity to speak with authority, when my white self has a thought?’ Regardless of how versed said Negro may think (s)he is, my whiteness awards me the constitutionality to shut down their uppityness.’”

When the man jumped on stage he said, “We were protesting just a few minutes ago asking for your attention to a much bigger idea….” Harris was answering a question about the gender pay gap when he interrupted her.

Security was on hand and moved into action. When the man resisted leaving the stage, the Senator’s husband, Douglas Emhoff, rushed to his wife’s aid and wrested the microphone from the man. Secret Service Protection is reserved for candidates and their spouses when they become the Presidential and Vice-Presidential nominees.

“Those of us, willing to speak truthfully about America’s racism, are all too familiar with the apparatuses that allow such incidents to happen,” adds Robinson.

Harris returned to the stage as the audience chanted her name. The former prosecutor said, “I’m good, I’m good, it’s all good.”
