George Zimmerman Trial,spirituality
Testimony: Day 10
In an unexpected move, the defense called Tracy Martin to the stand to testify about the day he met with Sanford police and heard the 911 tapes for the very first time. On the stand, Tracy Martin disputed the testimony of two Sanford. The father of 17 year old Trayvon Martin told jurors he denied telling lead investigator Christopher Serrrino that the voice crying for help on the 911 tapes was not his son’s. Martin sat on the stand in a navy suit with his eyes filled with tears, saying his son was his “best friend in life.”
Earlier in the day, officers Doris Singleton and Christopher Serrino recalled a meeting Serino held with Tracy Martin at the Sanford police department. During the meeting, Serino said he explained why George Zimmerman had not been charged in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Serrino told jurors he played the 911 tapes for Mr. Martin in his office. He said he asked Mr. Martin if the was his son’s voice screaming for help, and Mr. Martin said, “No.”
Officer Doris Singleton testified that she as in an area adjacent to Christopher Serrino’s office when she overheard Tracy Martin say it was not Trayvon’s voice. She told jurors Mr. Martin was very sad and was consoled by his girlfriend, Brandy Green.
