George Zimmerman Trial,spirituality
Testimony: Day 2
The coordinator of the Sanford Police Department’s volunteer neighborhood watch program testified today that George Zimmerman contacted her in August 2012 to organize a watch program at The Retreat in Twin Lakes.
Wendy Dorival said the meeting was held the next month. During the meeting, she said that she told the watch volunteers they were to serve as “the eyes and ears” for the police. She also told them if they saw suspicious activity to call 911-emergency. But, she said she also told them “not to take matters into their own hands. Let the law enforcement take the risk of the confrontation.”
The president of the neighborhood homeowner’s association also said residents had been told to call 911 non-emergency if they saw suspicious activity. Don O’Brien told the jurors he did not think The Retreat at Twin Lakes needed a neighborhood watch program.
The most graphic testimony today came from Sanford Police Officer, Anthony Raymondo who described how he administered CPR to Trayvon Martin without using a mask which is standard procedure. Officer Raymondo said he disregarded the rule because the circumstances were “rare and extraordinary.” Crime scene technician, Diana Smith, testified that.
