New Jersey Senator Cory Booker electrified the crowd on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and sealed his place among the ranks of Democratic superstars. The former mayor of Newark paired optimism with history and brought the party’s faithful to its feet, reminding many of a speech given in 2004 at the DNC Convention in Boston by a young Chicago politician who became President.
