St. Louis Couple Denied Hearing Before Supreme Court
The Supreme Court decided not to hear an appeal from the St. Louis couple who pointed guns at social justice protesters who walked by their home in 2020.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey — both of whom are attorneys — had been disciplined by the Missouri Supreme Court earlier last year after pleading guilty to misdemeanors. The Missouri Supreme Court said their conduct amounted to “moral turpitude” deserving of professional legal sanction and suspended their law licenses indefinitely but ultimately placed them on probation.
Missouri’s Governor Mike Parsons pardoned the couple, but they wanted the Supreme Court to hear their case, arguing their conduct was protected by the Second Amendment.
Tweets supporting the Supreme Court’s decision flooded timelines.
Mark McCloskey is a candidate for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Roy Blunt who decided to retire. McCloskey is not a frontrunner in the campaign.
His campaign is using the photos from the 2020 incident to rally supporters.
