Remembering The 1921 Tulsa Massacre
Investigators are examining the remains of 21 bodies found in unmarked graves in Oaklawn Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The search for victims from the 1921 Tulsa Massacre began two years ago. The area where the massacre occurred was once a prominent district filled with homes and businesses owned by African Americans, but an angry white mob destroyed the district known as Black Wall Street. Today it is home to a history center and the subject of movies, books and documentaries.
